Hello, I am a PhD student in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program at the Federal University of ABC (PPGEBM-Ufabc). I hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Ufabc), a postgraduate degree in Industrial Administration (USP), a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education (UNIMEP), a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Technology – Production Process (FATEC), and an Electronic Technician’s degree in Manufacturing Automation (SENAI).
My contribution and research at Heartlab will focus on the development, implementation, and validation of an automated system for precise control of nutrient dosage at a specific temperature in an isolated heart model (Langendorff system), used in cardiac arrhythmia research. Currently, the manual perfusion process has limitations, such as variability in solution infusion and lack of thermal control, which can compromise experimental reproducibility.
The research proposes an integrated solution based on a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for real-time monitoring.
This automated system will work to reduce perfusion variability by 90% and maintain nutrient temperatures at 37±0.5°C, compared to a fluctuation of ±2°C in the current model. Automation will result in a measurable increase in operational efficiency, which will allow for the simultaneous execution of multiple protocols.
These advances will be validated in experimental arrhythmia models, confirming the maintenance of cardiac viability and the reproducibility of electrophysiological parameters. It is concluded that the prototype to be developed will overcome the limitations of the conventional method, offering a technological milestone for cardiovascular research.
