Hi all, I am Jimena, a Ph.D. student in biotechnoscience at the Federal University of ABC in Brazil. My research focuses on characterizing the epicardial atrial substrate during fibrillation through experimental studies utilizing both optical and electrical mapping techniques.
I hold a background in Biomedical Engineering and have five years of experience working as a Clinical Engineer in a Bolivian hospital. In 2017, I was awarded a grant by The Organization of American States to pursue my master’s studies in Biomedical Engineering at the same institution where I am now conducting my Ph.D. research since 2021. This research is funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). It aims to develop an experimental model of electrically induced atrial fibrillation using panoramic optical mapping and epicardial electrical mapping.
